2012 we lost two friends of the Mayfaire Renaissance Festival, and other festivals as well. Frank (Skip) DeLodder and Master Owain Phyfe passed from this earth during 2012 from cancer. Keep them in your hearts and prayers.
I was lucky enough to know Skip having meant him at the Michigan Renaissance Festival many years ago, then again at the old Silverleaf, Mayfaire, and Pittsburgh Renaissance Faire to name a few. He was the owner and craftsman for Thee Dragon's Lair Leather and Kilt shop.
Master Owain Phyfe
What can one say about Owain Phyfe, as I've often spoke about Owain is that his voice was so hot he could melt ice in a freezer. I've had the extreme pleasure of hearing Owain perform from Michigan to Louisiana, Georgia, Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Texas. With his voice it was easy to pick out of the din at the faires and festivals. Once while at the Georgia Renaissance Festival, I thought to myself as i heard some music wafting through the air, "that sounds like Owain" and sure enough there he was sitting on a bench playing the music that he loved. And much to my surprise once again I got to hear Owain play in 2011 at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival in Hammond LA. I have been blessed to have know Owain, and to hear him play as much as I have.
